How to Draw a Chinese Woman With Large Captivating Eyes
A captivating portrait of a young Chinese girl with large, captivating eyes. Her regal bearing and pose conveys a sense of beauty and elegance.
To make the drawing look more Asian, taper the pencil stroke at the inner corner of her eye. This will make the eyelid crease more visible and give her face a more distinctive appearance.
Eyes
The eyes are one of the most important features to draw on a person, so it’s worth taking your time and trying to make them look as realistic as possible. Try to focus on every detail, and if you’re having trouble, practice drawing eyes from real life or find a tutorial online that can help you improve.
The eyelid crease on Asians tends to be more pronounced than on Caucasian people, so be sure to sketch that in. Also, notice the tiny bit of flesh at the inner corner of the eye called the caruncula – it’s a soft pink area that is separated from the eyeball.
If a Chinese woman says she’s traditional, that usually means she believes in virginity until marriage, has homemaking responsibilities, is likely domineering in her own subtle way, and isn’t very familiar with the concept of romantic love. However, she’s probably still willing to put family first.
Nose
Using a soft pencil, start drawing a circle in the center of your paper. This will serve as the guide for the nose. A smaller circle will lead to a more feminine nose, while a larger one lends itself to a masculine face. A light touch is important as you will be erasing many pencil marks later. Sketch paper has a texture that holds pencil lines better and is easier to erase than regular printer paper. A 2B pencil is a good choice since it has a dark lead, but you can also use a 4B or 6B pencil for even darker shading. A kneaded eraser is also helpful for lightening areas where shading has become too thick.
Next, create guidelines for the nose shape by drawing two long vertical lines on top of the circle. The first line hits about the middle of the circle and the second reaches almost to the far right edge of the circle. These lines will form the top and side of the nose. You may want to flare the lines out slightly, but you should be aware that it is only through shading that the shape of the nose will become visible.
